By: Nick Walby This Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 the craft beer world will be celebrating a new holiday. IPA Day was started last year by Ashley Routson (@TheBeerWench) of Bison Brewery in Berkley, CA and Ryan Ross (@RyanARoss) of Karl Strauss Brewing Company in San Diego, CA to join the craft beer masses and give a voice to one of the most celebrated (and tasty) styles the craft beer world has to offer. IPA Day was created to celebrate an entire day and unify the all the brewers, beer bloggers, bars, brewpubs, restaurants, bottle shops and beer fans for a day and let everyone know that craft beer is a large and loud group that won’t be going away any time soon. One of the most obvious ways to participate would be to enjoy an India Pale Ale (or any craft beer, if an IPA just doesn’t wet your whistle) on Thursday and spread the word on any social media sites you may use. Use the hashtag #IPADay to let everyone know about what you may be drinking including pictures, videos and reviews. Share some food pairing recipes or let someone know where you’re enjoying that hoppy glory. Another great way to celebrate IPA Day would be to celebrate with family members or try and get together after work with co-workers at a happy hour and try and get some craft beers into the hands of some folks less familiar with craft beers and show them what they have been missing. I personally can’t wait for Thursday to roll around, other then checking out all the great festivities it’s given me a reason to crack one of the Three Floyd’s IPA’s I have in a beer trade last month. Now I have to choose between an Arctic Panzer Wolf and Apocalypse Cow. You’re right…Double IPA is more appropriate. For more information on #IPADay head over to http://ipaday.org/ |
