Surly/ High West Whiskey/ Zeitgeist Dinner

Enjoy a 5 course meal pairing food from Zeitgeist, beer from Surly, and whiskey from High West Distillery. $80/person, contact Melissa at 218-336-1411 -or- for reservations.

1st Course-

FOOD: Elk and beer cheese soup with a fresh soft batch pretzel.

BEER: Smoke- Oak aged smoked altic Porter- Lager brewed with smoke malts. Flavors of raisins, plums, figs, and licorice with subtle smoke. 8.2% abc

WHISKEY: CAMPFIRE: The world’s first (and only) blend of Bourbon, Rye and Scotch. The whiskey is a great interplay of sweet (Bourbon), spicy (Rye) and smoky (Scotch). The finished whiskeys are blended, and then aged in a combination of new French and Hungarian wine barrels for two months, providing a rich and long finish. 92 proof.

2nd Course-

FOOD: Arugula and tangerine-supreme salad with blood orange vinaigrette, and candied pine nuts.
BEER: Hell- Germen style Helles Lager- Pale-gold lager with bready malt aromas and flavors, floral hop aroma and a balanced finish. Classic beer for a whiskey and a beer back. 4.5% abv
WHISKEY:DOUBLE RYE: The spiciest Rye on the market. A blend of a feisty, spicy two year-old Rye, tempered by a 16 year-old Rye. The later’s higher corn mash bill provides a nice element to polish the ‘rough edges’ of the former. 92 proof.
3rd Course-

FOOD: Seared kangaroo tenderloin with sweet potato hash and herbed pan sauce.
BEER: Seviin- Belgian Style Ale brewed with Rye, Oats and Wheat. Our first beer EVER brewed with Wheat! Belgian yeast creates classic clove-spiced banana aroma and flavor. Dry hopping brings floral and citrus aromatics to the biscuity-smooth malt body. 12.5% abc
WHISKEY:SON OF BOURYE: A blend of a 6 year-old Bourbon and a 6 year-old Rye, our “S.O.B.” starts off rich and sweet, but finishes with a nice spicy note. A great interplay of these two great American whiskeys. 92 proof.

4th Course-

FOOD: Peppered smoked sockeye salmon serves with cambozola and crostini.
BEER: Abrasive- Imperial Oat IPA- Hazy gold color. Aggressive aromas of candied grapefruit/tangerine & pine. The oats and brewers crystals (sugars) greatly enhance the body. High level of bitterness balanced by sweetness. 8.8% abv.
WHISKEY:“THE 36th VOTE” BARREL-AGEND MANAHATTAN: Our Double Rye! whiskey is pulled from barrel, blended with Vya Sweet Vermouth, two types of bitters, and then reintroduced into the barrel for three to five months of aging. The result is an incredibly complex, smooth Manhattan Cocktail. All you need to add is the cherry. 74 proof.

5th Course-

FOOD: Mexican Coke dark chocolate eclairs.
BEER: El Hefe Negro- Imperial Dunkel Weizen- Brewed with malted and roasted wheat, Vienna, Pilsen, Roasted Malt and Mexican Piloncillo Sugar, fermented with Hefe-Weizen yeast. 7.5% abv
WHISKEY:RENDEZVOUS RYE: The whiskey that put us on the map. A blend of two Straight Ryes; a six year-old and a 16 year-old. An amazing sipping whiskey that displays what Rye Whiskey is all about. A classic. 92 proof.
