An exciting new entry to the Twin Cities craft beer scene is here. Lake Monster Brewing is celebrating the launch of two new beers, the Empty Rowboat IPA and Calhoun Claw Pilsener, with a tasting event at Old Chicago Eden Prairie on Wednesday, October 9th from 5 to 7 PM.
Lake Monster Brewing is a collaboration between business partners Matt Lange and Matt Zanetti. Zanetti, the son of a former Napa Valley vineyard manager, was interested in getting back into the family business when he became fascinated with the growing craft beer scene in the Twin Cities. Last year her got in contact with Lange, an award-winning homebrewer and former Assistant Brewer at Ale Asylum in Madison, Wisconsin, and Lake Monster Brewing was born.
“The philosophy behind our beers is simple,” says Zanetti. “We want to make unique versions of classic beer styles for our friends in the Twin Cities, and make an impact on the local beer scene.”
To achieve that goal Lake Monster Brewing is starting out with two beers, the Empty Rowboat IPA and the Calhoun Claw Pilsener.
“When we were deciding what to brew, we thought ‘what kind of beer is most likely to be in our fridge? What am I brewing the most as a homebrewer?” says Lange. “American IPA and Czech-Pilsener were the obvious choices. These are also styles that I felt we could put our own spin on, and do something a little different than what was already on the market.”
The Empty Rowboat IPA is a flavorful beer for the craft beer lover. Made with a unique blend of classic and new American hops, including a new hop variety called Meridian, it is designed to be hop-forward with a subtle malt balance. The Calhoun Claw Pilsener is based on a classic Czech-style Pils, brewed with a blend of Czech and American hops and lagered for a clean finish.
