Community Hops, the nation’s first community garden dedicated to raising hops and specialty brewing crops, located in the heart of the Longfellow neighborhood, is holding a plant sale and membership drive this Saturday.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Community Hops will be selling young hop plants from St. Croix Valley Hops and memberships at the Longfellow Garden and at the nearby Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub.
Brewpub patrons & Longfellow neighbors will have the opportunity to learn about the hops, take a ride to the garden and brewpub on the Traveling Tap mega bike, enter a silent auction, and enroll in a Community Hops membership.
During the event hours Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub will donate a dollar from every beer sold on their patio to the organization and their continuing expansion. Additionally, members of the Nordeast Brewers Alliance homebrew club will be at the garden with homebrew samples and brewing education.
Community Hops aims to educate the community and facilitate involvement in the cultivation of specialized crops with sustainable agricultural practices. Learn more by visiting http://communityhops.org/
